Where to begin... In my years on the planet I've had many exciting personal and professional experiences. I've been teaching at the high school level in California since 1995, most of that time teaching Multimedia at San Benito High School in Hollister, CA. I love to ride motorycles. I draw and paint and cartoon images related to motorcycling. I am part of a family that includes my amazing wife and my two sons. we are a scouting family. I love to run, swim, and bicycle. I love to get away and be alone, and I also love people. I get along well with others and enjoy being part of a team where the purpose of the team takes me away from myself and engages me to go beyond what I can do alone. Since 1998 I have applied myself to learning digital tools such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, and more recently, Adobe Captivate. I've learned a bit about using Blender 3D and continue to study and improve. As much as I love traditional art, I'm a tech nerd at heart. While I have had a few classes to get started, most of what I've learned has been self taught with the help of a few books and YouTube tutorials. The challenge in teaching Multimedia in all these years has been what to focus on, since Multimedia covers so much territory, including sound, image, video, game design, programming, 3D, and special effects. Recently, however, I have decided to focus the Multimedia Program at San Benito High School on a three year game design pathway, which is engaging and interesting for students, and also has great gains in learning. In striving to make my material accessible and self-paced, I have spent years learning how to put my materials online. As a direct result of the Masters in Instructional Science and Technology program at CSU Monterey Bay, I have embraced Canvas LMS and iLearn as solutions for my students to learn in, and have had improvements in learning in my classroom. |
